This new beach-side house engages with its dramatic coastal location and views over the Firth of Forth. The building form is broken into parts to tie in with the scale and massing of its vernacular neighbours. A horizontal, sedum-covered roof ties the parts together.
The main entrance frames a view through to a lighthouse. The largest, two-storey section accommodates living and bedroom spaces while the smaller, bothy-like, section has a childrens bunk-loft with its own living space and shower room.
A palette of timber boarding and zinc was chosen to reflect the feel of sea-side boat sheds. First-floor bedrooms look out over the sedum roof, bringing the seascape up to the windows.
