As part of the wider regeneration of the town, the refurbishment of the Lochgelly Centre is seen as a significant first step to consolidate Fife Council services in an attractive modern environment, a catalyst for further redevelopment. The existing entrance area, foyer, café, and meeting rooms have been radically altered and enlarged to accommodate the relocation of the local library. A new entrance foyer links the existing theatre, dance studio and classroom spaces with the new library and café. The exterior of the building has also been updated and extensive landscaping carried out.
