The project forms an extension to the existing victorian primary school building and provides a total of 8 new classrooms, associated quiet rooms, multi-purpose hall and offices, linked to the original building by a glazed bridge. The project was developed in conjunction with Fife Council and under a design and build contract. The design incorporates a number of sustainable features to minimise the energy use of the building including extensive use of daylighting and natural ventilation. Windcatcher devices are also located on the roof to allow daylight to penetrate the deeper parts of the plan and to allow cross ventilation.
