Magdeburg Remter Pipe Organ

Studio Tristram Ltd

This pipe organ serves the Remter Chapel (former refectory) and the adjoining Marienkapelle of the ancient Magdeburg Dom. The Remter is used now for smaller services and weddings and the new organ is required to serve a variety of roles including recitals.

Located in an archway between the two chapels, the organ responds to the different architectural scale and character of each space. The case was designed to ensure minimal intervention with the historic building while remaining a work of its own time. Materials: natural red beech, stained beech, colour-coated metal (to co-ordinate with existing fittings), gilding, polished pipes.
