Development was constrained by the presence of two railway tunnels, one of which has been kept open for future use, the other was in-filled. A cast iron bridge with service access, a historic boundary wall, and severe level changes added to the constraints. These constraints dictated the building occupy the front of the site with car parking to the rear. On Gallowgate we created a paved civic space, while a collonade, complete with public art, guides pedestrians to the entrance. The striking dark clad elevations provide a backdrop to the collonade and the glazed corner feature signals the entrance.
