Eltham Palace Visitor Centre

Simpson and Brown Architects

The new Visitor Centre is located to the south-east of Eltham Palace. Glass houses and associated outbuildings were converted with the addition of a substantial new timber and zinc clad extension, to provide a new admissions area, retail and catering facilities, interpretation and exhibition space, and ancillary accommodation. The original garden wall was retained and divides retail and catering spaces. The existing glasshouse has been re-glazed to form a light and airy seating area for the café and a series of roof lights along the length of the ridge of the new extension floods the admissions area and shop with natural light.
