Atlantic Islands Centre

Shauna Cameron Architect Ltd

Home to the Luing History Group, the building includes an exhibition area, viewing gallery, work spaces, café/restaurant and shop.

The design, informed by the former Engine House and built-form of Cullipool conservation village, is perched on the edge of a flooded quarry.

Reclaimed slate walls and paving, white render and slate roofs connect the building to its surroundings. The quarry pond serves as the heat pump fuel source, providing underfloor heating and hot water.

After many years research, planning and community endeavour, the Atlantic Island Centre has made a major contribution to the regeneration of this fragile island community.
