This project was the result of a collaboration between an artist, Pat Law, an architect, Andy Law, and Quercus, acting as builders. The main space in the building is the studio with cool daylight from north facing rooflights and a great deal of warm daylight from full height glazed screens to the south. This is complemented by sitting and kitchen areas, which then connects to a discrete bedroom and shower room. With timber cladding, post and beam structure, natural wool insulation and underfloor heating fed by ground source heat pump the buildings specification has been used on subsequent projects. Materials were sourced where possible in Scotland and toxic treatments avoided.
