Wagon House

Pete Cummins Architects

Wagon House is a converted stone steading in Fife, planned around the existing courtyard. The south facing court provides the perfect situation to exploit direct sunlight, and the open plan living areas makes the best use of this quiet space. Consideration was given to conserving the existing fabric, without compromising the design. A selection of standing trees were available and used in the structural frame (oak) and waney cladding (larch). Clay blocks were used in the walls and Pavawall & Pavaroof, made from 95% waste wood, used to over clad the structure, providing a simple, high performance, breathable insulation system.
