'Burnbank' is an 18thC cottage near Oban, which was extended in two directions to create a new bedroom and entry at one end, and a large south facing kitchen off the middle. The entry has a covered outdoor space- to get out of the rain- and the kitchen a south and west facing deck to make the most of the sun. Roof-lights, clay-plastered earth brick walls, hemp insulation, Caithness stone and untreated Scottish timber including Larch, Oak and Douglas Fir were used to create very warm, light and inviting additions to the traditional cottage.
