Located in the basement of the New Museum of Scotland, the Early People Exhibition is a narrative on the development of life in Scotland from pre-history to the beginning of Christianity. The exhibition is laid out within a framework which deals with the mechanisms of life rather than its chronology and includes artifacts, ranging from Pictish stones to silverware. Involving conservationists, curators and specialists the exhibition accommodates the design and display for 6000 artifacts within a restricted palette of materials and articulated in a manner appropriate for the setting and to the anticipated 30 year lifespan.
