Scottish Mining Museum

LDN Architects LLP

LDN have been consultant architects to the Scottish Mining Museum since 1990 and have been instrumental in developing strategies for the phased repair of the A Listed colliery buildings and their redevelopment as a mining museum.

Work commenced in 1992 with the restoration of the Old Power Station and continued in 1996-97 with the stabilisation of the fabric of the South elevation and repair of the Old Washer Buildings and associated machinery. The visitor centre has been re-locatedwithin existing buildings and a visitor route through the principal buildings has been created. The re-roofing of the Pithead area was completed in 2012.
