Listed House, Helensburgh

Jonathan Gotelee Architect Ltd

This Category 'B' Listed 1930's 'Moderne' style house had been painstakingly rejuvenated by its previous owners but was let down by the the original kitchen layout and a 1980s scullery. The kitchen appeared superficially sleek and 1930's with bright yellow "Vitrolite" tiles cladding the walls, but in reality were spaces designed for a pre-war house and staff, not a modern family.

We altered the space into a family kitchen and dining area wrapped around an existing chimney and also researched how to remove and replace the "Vitrolite" tiles with minimal breakages to make a seamless re-working of the spaces.
