Belhaven House

John Lamb Architect

The site enjoys panoramic views over the Firth of Clyde to Kintyre and Northern Ireland, which the clients wished to maximise. A sloping site, and planning requirements that the house would respond to its rural setting, led to the adoption of a split level design, cut into the slope, with large south-west facing areas of glazing. A combination of white render and dark timber cladding reflect the character of nearby rural buildings while the splayed roof accentuates the building's relationship with the landscape. An air to water heat pump provides a cost-effective sustainable heating system.
