Garnock Campus

jmarchitects

The new Garnock Campus provides a community building with a school at its heart and replaces the existing Garnock Academy and Glengarnock Primary School. It accommodates for 1200 secondary school pupils, 260 primary school pupils, 45 nursery pupils and provides community facilities including a fitness suite, a 25m pool and training pool. A key concept and requirement of the brief was for a school in which it is possible to ïsee learning happeningÍ, so active functions such as Dining, Community Caf_, Auditorium, Library, Pool and Project Spaces are clustered at the heart of the building, creating a dynamic core of activity, with classroom spaces branching off from it. Opportunities for flexible learning and a feeling of connectivity have been created throughout the buildings section through a series of terraces which project into and over the central thoroughfare of the school.
