Oregon Nanoscience and Microtechnologies Institute (ONAMI)

Jacobs

ONAMI combines flexible laboratories with support areas to provide commercial space for research studies in materials science and related system technologies. The facility transformed an existing warehouse building into an advanced technology nanoscience facility with a relatively modest budget. The ONAMI concept exemplifies prevailing trends in advanced research to leverage more research capability with lower capital investment and to better integrate technology commercialisation to generate a return on research investment. The design focuses on and supports collaborative working and establishes a stimulating shared research environment with open and closed office options, closed and shared labs, and fabrication space for demonstration and full-scale production lines. Awards: 2011 Daily Journal of Commerce "Top Projects" Award for Public Buildings $5.1- $15M 2012 State Science and Technology InstituteÍs Excellence in Technology Based Economic Development Award.
