Hotel Indigo, Glasgow

ICA

Hotel Indigo is a multi award winning boutique hotel in Glasgow and has become the benchmark for this new hotel brand concept. Architecturally the conversion was a fascinating project. Originally built in 1892 this building was the first electric power station to be built in Glasgow. Layers of history were uncovered as this listed building underwent a sensitive conversion. Major structural works were required to carefully form a nine storey service core while preserving 1920's plasterwork and ceramics. Ica provided both Architectural and Interior Design and looked after every aspect from negotiation with adjoining owners to artwork on the walls. Ica are now working on numerous Indigo projects including London, Paris and Lisbon.
