John Anderson Building Refurbisment & Extension

Hypostyle Architects

This extension is part of an overall master plan project to refurbish the building to meet the modern standards required by the University's Physics school. The basic principles of sustainable design have been used and while the orientation and arrangement of the extension is largely determined by site constraints, however, the orientation of offices and access was carefully considered. A new plantroom has been strategically located to the rear, taking advantage of the sloping site without impacting on the main Richmond Street facade. The corner stair continues onto the roof level car park, integral to the form of the corner feature.
