CH Waddington Building

Holmes Miller Ltd

The CH Waddington Building is a new-build research facility for the Centre for Systems Biology Edinburgh, part of the School of Biological Sciences.

The accommodation comprises suites of Containment Level 2 Laboratory accommodation incorporating dry lab write-up and ancillary spaces; together with offices, meeting rooms, seminar rooms and break spaces.

The solid appearance of research laboratories contrasts with the light and open offices. A simple grid fenestration is applied to the offices to create a quiet façade that sits sensitively within landscaped gardens. Within the gridded fenestration, a repeating module of glazing enhances the visual connection to the gardens.
