This project rescued one of Aberdeen's finest grade A listed historic buildings and in the process created a modern 14,000m. net, open plan, headquarters office for the City Council. A full façade retention was installed with the internal fabric removed, except in the richly decorated Senate Room, and replaced with new open plan floor plates, fitting in two extra floors in the process. The key decision of infilling the existing vehicle access pend forms an impressive entrance lobby within the existing granite archway and connects the north and south wings of the building
