Tower Hill, Hawick: The practice was appointed by Scottish Borders Council (SBC) to convert this A listed mill, which sits on a massive arch over the Slitrig River, into a £5 arts centre and community resources building which now contains a theatre/cinema, cafe, social areas and meeting rooms, community enterprise units and artists studios. The mill wheel is still in situ (beneath a glass floor). The adjoining Heritage Hub building has been largely rebuilt to form a local family history centre and archive. The design provided optimum conditions for SBC archives whilst giving full public access to allow display documents and manuscripts.
