Cothrom ReStore - Low-Carbon Adult Training Centre

Fraser Architecture LLP

This completed new-build adult learning and recycling centre provides workshops, training rooms and shop on Cothrom’s further education and community development campus on the Isle of South Uist. This low-carbon building is home to ReStore, an emerging social enterprise. Since completing the first feasibility study, we worked closely with Cothrom, on the journey through project development and funding to bring the project to fruition. Sustainability was central to the brief. A bright, efficient plan creates attractive, functional spaces for learning. The choice of sustainable materials, components and finishes and the intelligent use of renewables satisfy the requirement for a high quality, economical and low-maintenance building.
