Edinburgh Garden District

EMA Architecture + Design Ltd

Edinburgh Garden District has been informed by the existing topography of the site, its landscape setting and its proximity to the A720 / Edinburgh City Bypass. The strategy is appropriate for an edge of settlement neighbourhood and provides a new defensible urban edge for Edinburgh.

The development framework proposes that the buildings located along the bypass corridor reflect the scale of the buildings within Edinburgh Park to help mitigate noise issues associated with the road. The massing and density of the new neighbourhood then decreases away from the bypass creating an appropriate edge along its boundary with the historic estate.
