Positioned on a sloping site overlooking the white sands of Morar, the challenge was to create a holiday home appropriate to its spectacular surroundings.
To found the dwelling on the sites natural soil, the ground floor has been sunk at entrance level with views to the surrounding garden. On the first floor, comprising all public spaces, the eaves are fully closed, pushing the view towards the distant scenery.
The building is protected by a timber rain screen, with rainwater running in a controlled fashion as a curtain set back from the bedroom windows. The light entering the building through the glazed walls and roof lights keeps the atmosphere of the building ever-shifting.
