Sleeping Outhouse

Crew Architects

Extension to a B Listed building within the Merchiston Greenhill Conservation Area. The works involved a contextually sensitive yet contemporary new bedroom wing extension with unobstructed views down the garden achieved through introducing a timber portal frame which allows the roof to cantilever over the window and past the line of existing outhouse. Above the level of substructure the extension is fully constructed in timber with Scottish Larch cladding. Materials were judicially chosen to tonally fit with the adjoining outhouse stonewalling, with a grey stain applied to the timber cladding, zinc & blue black brickwork.
