New Housing Development, Govan

Coltart Earley Architecture

This new development forms part of the Central Govan Action Plan, a 10 year programme to regenerate the district. Internally the use of double height spaces and large areas of glazing create a sense of space and light. Externally the use of large format tiles and glazed bays allow the new buildings to relate to the scale of the tenements whilst the partially pre-oxidised copper visually connects the buildings to the metallic colours in the adjacent shipyards. A new sense of place is created by the 3 new housing blocks together with a new streetscaping scheme involving the reuse of historical cobbles, planting of new trees and installation of cast iron panels.
