New Build Housing at Murano Street, Glasgow

CMA Architects Limited

In 2005 Campbell and Morris Associates were appointed by AB Hamilton to provide private housing on the site of a former bakery at Murano Street. The site faces traditional tenement properties on one side and is bounded to the rear by the Forth and Clyde Canal offering spectacular views over the city. The first phase comprising 28 flats was completed in 2006 at a cost of £3 million. Following acquisition of the site by Queens Cross Housing Association in 2007, Campbell and Morris Associates were asked to progress a second phase to provide a further 140 social housing flats including amenity flats and environmental improvements at a cost of £17 million. The development offers long term sustainablity and is compliant with Housing for Varying Needs, ECO Homes and Secured by Design Accreditation.
