The visitor centre sits beside a well know salmon leap waterfall and includes an exhibition about the life of the salmon, a cafe, craft shop, toilets, play park and picnic pavilion. The building and external walkway wrap around a grassy plaza which regularly hosts open-air events. The design concept is loosely based on the form of a leaping salmon. The entrance portal takes the form of a flicked tail, the timber walkway, which curves around the plaza, becomes the body and the larch clad building sits at the head. The focal point is a circular rooflight, which reflects over the polished concrete floor and forms the eye.
