This category A listed Palladian town house designed by John Adam in the early 1750s has an interior of equal stature to its handsome setting overlooking Eyemouth harbour. Restoration work is sometimes held to be more academic than a matter of architectural design. Here the very stuff of architecture, the concern for place and the search for historical and contemporary authenticity and the placing of these at the forefront of the visitor experience of the smuggling heritage in the cellars, the merchant's house and holiday apartment, has been central to creating a sustainable future for the House.
