Dewars Lane Granary

Camerons (Camerons Strachan Yuill)

This B listed granary building is one of the few remaining which recall the townÍs commercial 19th C grain trade. The project combines the conservation of the rich townscape, architectural and historical heritage of this part of the town with tourism based regeneration. Celebrated for its lean, (famously painted by L S Lowry), its structure was consolidated by the replacement of its original timber post and beam structure by a new steel frame. Youth Hostel Association self catering and bedroom accommodation occupies the upper floors with educational and exhibition facilities and a bistro caf_, accessible by the general public, on the lower floors.
