The interesting geometries at play in this design are a response to the sloping and angled garden and a desire to make links between multiple levels. The extension is configured to link the existing floor level with the sloping garden behind using an external terrace. The roof is configured to reconcyle the heights of the windows above and depth of plan to ensure maximum light penetration into the existing building. By embracing these challenges, this house extension endeavours to create architectural interest, whilst providing the additional space the family needs. This modern approach to extending listed buildings ensures they are kept in use, protecting them for future generations.
