Arranged along the boundary wall, a row of outbuildings adjoins the house. The outbuildings are narrow and converting them into bedrooms within the existing footprint wouldnt provide practical corridor space. A glazed link corridor along the other side of the wall provides access from the house and a light, dynamic connection to the garden.
The house required a formal entrance of a modest size which can accommodate a family removing muddy boots from a day in the Scottish countryside. The new porch picks up the aesthetics of the timber clad link corridor which steps in and out with chamfered corners.
