Responding to the conservation area the extension incorporates a traditional roofline, forming two wings with a central recessed area with lower roof. The sandstone from the demolished outbuildings were reused. Glazing is a light grey colour complimenting the sandstone.
Internally the ceilings have raised ties within the wings creating a light, airy space providing a sense of scale relating back to the main house. A feature slot roof light provides daylight into the deep plan where the extension meets the back wall of the house. A long feature step along the rear elevation serving the hall and kitchen connects the extension back to the main house.
