Chalmers Church was designed and built around 1850 and is Grade B Listed. We were commissioned to split the Church into residential units. The Church was subdivided into 5 large dwelling houses largely dictated by the position of existing openings and paralam trusses internally which were retained entirely within the individual houses where possible. The living levels were designed at first floor level and apartment spaces are all contained at ground level; leaving the roof structure open with gallery spaces, utilising the remaining roof space. Particular care was taken when detailing window junctions and their interaction with floor plains.
