The Discovery Centre, University of Dundee

BMJ Architects

BMJ’s latest addition to the College of Life Sciences. The new annexe provides four storeys of laboratories, associated office and meeting space, including a state-of-the art Drug Discovery High Throughput Screening Laboratory and the Laboratory for Quantitative Proteomics. The facility also includes an open-plan floor dedicated to interdisciplinary research. The atrium meets the client’s aspiration ‘to enable innovation by breaking down barriers between scientific disciplines’. Formal and informal interactions are possible in the main atrium space, ‘the street,' as well as the networking center, café, a 50-seat seminar room, offices, meeting rooms and breakout spaces.
