Irvine Town Centre CARS and Trinity Church

ARPL Architects Ltd

ARPL Architects were commissioned by North Ayrshire Council and Irvine Bay Regeneration Company to prepare the Conservation Area Assessment and Management Plan for the core of the Conservation area. The historic core of Irvine's town centre is focussed on the Cross of the High Street and Bridgegate with a concentration of traditional buildings at the heart of the original commercial area. This involved a detailed architectural and historical analysis of the existing buildings and townscape with a full building gazetteer. The key building of the conservation area is Trinity church an A listed church designed by Frederick Pilkington. This conservation work involved detailed historical and built fabric analysis to formulate a detailed conservation plan. The repairs comprise stonework restoration, roofing works, window renewal and the major refurbishment of Daniel Cottier stained glass windows This study formed the basis of a successful CARS application to Historic Scotland.
