The Bivvi 'Passive House'

Archid Architects Ltd

The house is designed to make the most of its spectacular site while trying to minimize its impact on the landscape and environment. It is designed and built to use very little energy and is a certified passive house. The south elevation is extensively glazed to make the most of the views, other external finishes are natural stone and a green sedum roof, the house is earth sheltered to the north, east and west and the earth has been left to return to hillside. Inside it has a double height living space with mezzanine floor at its centre and a massive internal stone wall serving to make use of solar gain and as a visual link between inside and outside.
