In converting an existing shop unit into this restaurant, we were determined to open up the frontage to St. Johnâs Square and designed new sliding folding doors in keeping with the building and the surrounding Conservation Area.
Inside we opened up the existing roof to drop some natural light into the middle of the plan over the bar and introduced warm, natural materials such as brick, timber, leather and Scottish tweed to create a rich yet informal interior. We enjoyed developing the superbly equipped kitchen and the centre piece zinc clad bar. Given amount of work involved in the conversion, we feel that tremendous value was achieved in completing the project for less than £250k.
