The intention was to create a bold public presence in an urban landscape with this health and care centre in Glasgow, providing accomm1odation for two GP Practices, a community health shop, social work services, health visitors and district nurses on an under-used gap site. The design was inspired by the surrounding area with brick work reflecting the sandstone warmth of nearby tenements.
Privacy to clinical rooms on the main frontage is provided by a colonnade and intricate Corten steel panels, created by artist Alex Hamilton, within each bay. Processional piers along the frontage run into the streetscape as free standing piers, acting as a welcome to the building.
