The A&DS and RIAS Scottish Student Awards for Architecture

Our Student Awards, in tandem with Architecture & Design Scotland, are an annual highlight – marking the vigour of Scotland's architectural schools and the tremendous talent of our student members. The future of architecture is in their hands – and certain to be both careful and invigorating.

Background

Now in their 18th year, the student awards are a mark of the continuing high standards of Scottish architectural education and ensure that both construction professionals and the public can enjoy the creativity and vision of Scotland’s future architects.

2019 Submissions

Entries to the A&DS and RIAS Scottish Student Awards for Architecture 2019 are now being invited. The deadline for submissions is Monday 19th August 2019.

How to enter

To access the submission form please complete a free registration via Eventbrite You will then receive a confirmation email with a link to an online entry submission form. NOTE: You must complete this form to be considered for an award. Full submission rules and full awards criteria can be found here

Award Categories

RIAS Rowand Anderson Silver Medal for Best Scottish Student

Open to 5th year only - although an individual prize, if students have worked within groups in the 5th year, group work can be submitted alongside individual work to demonstrate the full breadth of the student’s work. Groups cannot win the RIAS Silver Medal but group work is eligible for both the Sust. Award and the RIAS Andy MacMillan Award. Group work should be clearly marked as group work.

Architecture and Design Scotland Award for Best Third Year Student

Open to 3rd year only - although an individual prize, if students are working within groups, group work can be submitted alongside individual work to demonstrate the full breadth of the student’s work. Groups cannot win the Architecture and Design Scotland Award but group work is eligible for both the Sust. Award and the RIAS Andy MacMillan Drawing Award. Group work should be clearly marked as group work.

Architecture and Design Scotland Urban Design Award

Open to all years - group work and individual work can be submitted. As a group or individual submission Architecture and Design Scotland Urban Design Award nominees will be eligible for both the Sust. Award and the RIAS Andy MacMillan Drawing Award.

Work submitted must be from student’s current year and must demonstrate an approach to urban context issues, masterplanning or urban/townscape design – not individual buildings within the town or cityscape!

Architecture and Design Scotland Sustainable Design Award

Open to all years (individuals and groups) - this is not a separate entry and is selected from the three categories above.

The RIAS Andy MacMillan Drawing Award

Open to all years - this is not a separate entry and is selected from the three categories above.
