Senior Lighting Designer


Edinburgh based LDP International (LDPi) is an award-winning firm of Lighting Architects who provide a range of services working creatively in light with Architects, Consultants, Designers and Clients worldwide.

Our design ethos as Lighting Architects is to visually unify and connect architecture, landscape and interior spaces with the element of light and in-turn, strengthen the interaction between ‘people’ and ‘environment’.

With the expansion of our overseas studios, we seek an experienced Senior Lighting Designer to assist our Edinburgh production team in the delivery of all UK and international projects. All potential candidates must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in practice; ideally within the Lighting Design sector. The considered candidate must have adequate technical knowledge of how light is integrated, controlled and delivered within various site conditions, as well as an understanding of procurement and associated product capabilities. A comprehensive understanding of light levels and illumination standards for both internal and external areas is essential within the role of Senior Lighting Designer, alongside the ability to use Dialux and light calculative programmes when required.

As a Senior Designer, you will be tasked to conceptualise ideas, contribute to big picture thinking, drive the various design teams through the project delivery phase and showcase a successful understanding of a design brief. You will have a strong work ethic and understanding of how a design practice operates, as well as experience in project development, responsibility and time management. You will have a positive attitude to team working and development with likeminded individuals, all who have an open-and-share culture.

The successful candidate would have a preferred background or degree in Architecture, Engineering or Interior Design; with essential experience working on live projects alongside other design team leaders and Consultants. Any experience of working on international projects is desirable.

Working under a Studio Lead, you would be inputting as part of a design team on signature architectural projects. Candidates should have appropriate design degree and experience working with the following programmes:

• AutoCAD
• Dialux
• Photoshop
• Excel
• Adobe Creative Suite
• Microsoft Office
• 3D rendering software (preferred)
