From the sixty seven entries for the 2016 RIAS Awards, eleven buildings were shortlisted for the Doolan. The panel looked for projects which showed innovation and design excellence, irrespective of size or type. Other key considerations were: detailing, accessibility, environmental issues and technical skill.
The panel of judges was chaired by David Dunbar PPRIAS with Iain Dickson PPRIAS and Eleanor McAllister OBE Hon FRIAS, Director of RIAS Centenary.
The judges were unanimous in their decision that this years award should go to Saunders Centre, Science & Technology Building, Glasgow,
Page\Park Architects (Client: The Glasgow Academy).
Fiona Hyslop MSP, Scotlands Cabinet Secretary for Culture, Tourism and External Affairs, announced the result of this years award at a presentation at the National Museum of Scotland, Chambers Street, Edinburgh on 2nd November 2016.
