The third RIAS/RIBA Awards again prompted an excellent response. No fewer than 83 submissions were received. The judges had to select their shortlist from projects ranging from modest house extensions to multi- million pound commercial, educational and cultural buildings. Entries ranged from throughout Scotland, though particular praise must go to our northern colleagues and clients with more than a quarter of all entries within the Inverness Chapter. The judge’s shortlist of 27 includes projects from Selkirk to John o’ Groats.
Once again we are very grateful to all the entrants who have sanguinely adopted an “...it’s the taking part” attitude.
The judges for this year’s awards are Marjorie Appleton FRIAS, Liz Davidson Hon FRIAS, Doug Read PPRIAS, Craig White RIBA, the timber specialist and George Oldham RIAS RIBA, representing the Royal Institute of British Architects. We are grateful to the Scottish Government, Forestry Commission Scotland, Wood for Good and Historic Scotland for their generous support of our special awards.
