Reviewing draft documentation from outside bodies and proposed policy, to promote chartered architects' skills and experience, to enhance understanding of Environment, Town Planning and Housing issues through practice information and to support best practice in Planning and Housing.

Terms of Reference

Membership

Maximum 12/14 members to include:

  • Convenor
  • Chapter Representatives x 6
  • Planners (RTPI Rep)
  • Student Representative

In attendance:

  • Practice Manager

Meetings do not require to be strictly quorate but attendance of fewer than 5 members must be notified to the President.

Purpose

  • To contribute to the integration of architecture in general education.
  • To develop the involvement of non architect supporters of architecture.
  • To maintain and enhance information and advice services in areas such as environmental matters and building technology.
  • To contribute to development of codes and standards and to the promotion of good practice procedures through both Scottish and UK bodies.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • To support best practice in areas of Town Planning, Environment and Housing.
  • Reflect the views of members when responding to consultation documents from outside bodies.
  • To take up initiatives to illustrate chartered architects’ skills and experience - specific Town Planning, Environment and Housing areas and advise PPC and Council on policy issues.
  • To contribute to members’ understanding of Town Planning, Environment and Housing issues through Practice Information.

Functions

  • To contribute to members’ understanding of Town Planning, Environment and Housing issues through Practice Information.

Authority and Reporting Requirements

  • The Committee is subordinate to PPC and Council (on urgent policy issues the Convenor shall confer with the President).
  • The Committee shall report in writing to each meeting of Council.
  • Any papers on policy matters should be presented to PPC and Council.
  • The Convenor shall liaise with the Practice Manager as appropriate when dealing with matters of policy and in the preparation of reports to PPC and Council
