About the project

Set in a woodland clearing, and built into a hillside, this holiday house enables wheelchair access on the upper floor and an intimate connection to mature Birch woods from the lower floor. It benefits from passive solar gains, solar panels and from spectacular views. It utilizes Douglas Fir posts and beams, hemp insulation, unfired clay bricks, clay-based renders and Scottish Larch cladding. It attained a 4-star rating with Visit-Scotland's Quality Assurance Scheme and the Gold Award in the Green Tourism Business Scheme. The owners say it "honours it's beautiful surroundings and has been a huge success with all the visitors".
