Kent: West and the Weald, published in July, is the first in a two-part revision of the county by John Newman, author of the original volumes. The launch was held at Knole, Kent’s greatest house, itself recently the subject of major research by the National Trust. Insights from this work are included in the new edition, together with full reassessments of all the original entries, from Dartford to Romney Marsh. Other highlights include the cathedral and castle at Rochester and the historic naval dockyard at Chatham, with its unique and spectacular Georgian and Victorian structures.
